HAPPY NEW 2009!
Holiday’s work

I've come further on the material for my showreel. These two screenshots are taken from an animation that I started on some night at hyper a couple of weeks ago and I've finally fininshed it. It's crazy how 5 seconds long reels can literally eat production time.
The case of group 4
After a couple of requests I am finally putting up my group's work from the previous month. Enjoy.

Love you Group 4!

So, the Visual Communication module is sadly over. We had our big presentation yesterday and it went pretty well. We got both negative and positive feedback, but that's not important really for me, it is actually my group that I've been with for last 4 weeks. We had the best work flow ever and with our skills put together we did really kick ass with our concept. I really found friends for life there.
Next project at Hyper will be to build a portfolio and we have this sort of holidays so it is chill time for a couple of weeks, I do really look forward to that.
Here are some pics of my lovely crew, huge thanks for all the fun and stressful times!!

A little part from our work - business cards in 3d.

Tough guys for real
Kick what?

Another week has passed and here is the update. We've been doing a lot of thinking about the web-design that my group is developing. This whole week hasn't been anything else but that. Even if it might get stressful at times, I personally think that my group is the best one. We have so chilled out relationship, we can talk about anything, listen to some funky music, joke around and still deliver things on time.

Last Wednesday we decided to stay at school a little bit longer and work on our personal stuff, what later turned out to be an "allnighter". I started playing around with some 3D shapes and got totally hooked, because I finally started on something that could be a nice thing to show in my future portfolio.
Later on that night, Sean joined us. (Can you believe that? Stuff like this can only happen at Hyper Island, when a student wants to come to school in the middle of the night, because it is so good.) We hung out in the "fatboys", watched a movie on a projector and designed lots of cool things. Even though I felt terrible after that, it was still worth it.

It might be a bit difficult to see what that is, but it will be a whole lot more clear when my new showreel will be released.
Until then, Stay fresh!
Stoking.
Steven Henri visited us today and gave us (me at least) the best lecture ever. He was so cool, funny and inspiring. I could relate to him all the time and yeah, I enjoyed every minute of it. Lovely.
The time is getting shorter before the portfolio days and I am still out of mojo in order to do something representative. The schedule is crazy, but I somehow manage to keep my group in order.
We had a check up meeting with a designer called Greg Henriques. (Got to admit, I've probably met 2-3 other guys called Greg in my life, so it's always an honor..) And he was great, we got tons of great feedback and positive reactions about our design.

Me and my hypernaut-buddies printed a couple of our personal designs on tote-bags, yesterday. We had this whole session at my printshop/office/boyroom, fun times.

That would be all for now.
Don't forget to check my flickr now and then
Give me more time.

Another week has almost passed by. A lot of great and inspiring people has visited us. Today was no exception, a designer Anders Malmstömer gave us a very interesting lecture this morning. He explained things like how logotypes and brands should work together and he even went through some basic typography information. One of the funny things he showed, was this Sydney-based designer Christopher Doyle who made identity guidelines for himself, take a look here.
It is about two weeks left before this lovely module is over and I am supposed to build my portfolio. I recently realized that I don't have any quality material to show and with all the stuff happening right now, I barely opened After Effects for months. So I guess this upcoming weeks are going to be pretty long and nasty for me.
A couple of days ago, I somehow inspired/woke my buddy Andreas' interests in photography. He owns a Nikon D40 for a year now, but he hasn't really realized that it is possible to shoot in RAW with it. So when I showed him how magical photography is when shooting in raw format, he became obsessed. ![]()
He shot this picture below. Good job, man!

What a day.

A UK based agency called POKE paid us a visit and held an inspirational lecture. They had probably the most beautiful keynote presentation I've ever seen and yeah they were very interesting to listen to.
Later on, we got another visit from Daniele Fiandaca who is a CEO at the agency called Profero and founder of the network Creative Social. He talked about his recent experiences and things like that. He did also have a present for us - a Profero styled vinyl toy. How funky isn't that?
So me and my gang felt kind of inspired, so the clock is about 10pm and we are still hanging out at Hyper Island and basically doing some illustrations and listening to some fresh tunes.

The result of this evening's session.
